Bowmoor 6 Hour Race

This Saturday I competed in the 6 hour race at Bowmoor sailing club.

The race calls for teams of two, to alternate for 6 hours, after which average lap times are calculated and then corrected against RYA handicaps.

A write up of the event can be found at http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/?article=158234

This is the second year I have done the race and while I had only been sailing for about 6 months last year, I felt a lot more in control of the boat this time around. Despite some quite unpredictable conditions ( Lake wind conditions seem to be completely different to the river which I am used to sailing on )  Andrew (my sailing partner) and I managed to finish in 16th place of 28 boats.

I had a fantastic day sailing and the Bowmoor club members made all the visiting sailors very welcome. I’m looking forward to next year, and hopefully being further up the rankings!
